Troop 88 provides an active educational program for boys and girls to build character, to learn and practice leadership, foster citizenship, and to develop lifetime skills through an outdoors based program.
How Scouting Benefits the Youth
Scouting uses a unique "Patrol Method" that places the responsibility of leadership on the scouts themselves. This provides a safe environment for them to:
Build Confidence: By overcoming challenges in the outdoors and mastering new skills.
Develop Leadership: Through holding troop offices and leading peer groups in activities and service projects.
Practice Citizenship: Learning how to impact their community through service and understanding their role in local and national government.
Foster Personal Growth: Setting and achieving goals through the Rank Advancement system
Outdoor Adventure: Mastery of camping, hiking, swimming, and survival skills.
Merit Badge Discovery: Access to over 135 different subjects—from Robotics and Welding to Sustainability and First Aid—helping them discover potential career paths.
Lifelong Values: A moral compass guided by the Scout Law.
Community Impact: Tangible experience in helping others through "Good Turns" and Eagle Scout service projects.
On my honor I will do my best,
to do my duty to God and my country,
and to obey the scout law;
to help other people at all times,
to keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight.
